Body found in wheel well after United flight lands in Hawaii Stowaway dies from lack of oxygen?

(Reuters) – A deceased individual was found in the wheel well of a United Airlines aircraft after it landed on the Hawaiian island of Maui, the airline announced on Wednesday.

The body was discovered in one of the compartments housing the airplane’s landing gear when United Flight 202 from Chicago O’Hare International Airport arrived at Kahului Airport on Tuesday afternoon, according to the airline’s website. No additional information about the deceased person was provided.

“The wheel well was only accessible from outside the aircraft. At this time, it remains unclear how or when the individual accessed the wheel well,” the airline stated.

United Airlines confirmed it is collaborating with authorities on the investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
