Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse” won Song of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards

(Gray News) – Country music star Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse” won both single and song of the year awards at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards.

“White Horse” made something of an upset in both categories over Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s “I Had Some Help,” which led to Malone getting four nominations and helped Wallen get seven coming into the show.

Stapleton joined Malone to open the ceremony from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with a performance of Malone’s “California Sober.” The opening song functioned as a shoutout to what will be a celebration of a time of crossover and collaboration in country.

Nominees for Song of the Year included “Burn It Down” by Hillary Lindsey, Parker McCollum, Lori McKenna, Liz Rose; “Dirt Cheap” by Cody Johnson; “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone (Feat. Morgan Wallen); and “The Painter” by Benjy Davis, Kat Higgins, Ryan Larkins.

Nominees for Single of the Year included “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey; “Dirt Cheap” by Cody Johnson; “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone (Feat. Morgan Wallen); and “Watermelon Moonshine” by Lainey Wilson.
