ARLINGTON – The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been able to generate much offense against the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium in this Thanksgiving Week 13 matchup.
So a second-year player recording his first-ever interception and his first-ever touchdown will have to do.
Both of these teams find themselves at the bottom of the NFC East standings, with the Cowboys sitting at 4-7 and the Giants at 2-9. But there have been signs of life from the Dallas defense, even with some of the injury issues, which again today include the absence of star cornerback Trevon Diggs.
But the Giants are dealing with their own struggles, including the midseason release of quarterback Daniel Jones, the injury to his backup Tommy DeVito that rendered him unable go today … and the assignment given to third-stringer Drew Lock, who was victimized in a spectacular second-quarter play by Dallas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.
Overshown rushed the passer, deflected Lock’s throw into the air, and then snagged it himself for a 22-yard pick-6 TD – the first of his career.
The Cowboys previously defeated the Giants 20-15 earlier this season in a tight contest at MetLife Stadium. … and maybe more of the same is on tap here as the Cowboys are up 13-7 on this Thanksgiving afternoon.
Dallas still hopes it is going somewhere with plans to string together two straight wins. … and right now Overshown is very much a part of those plans.
