Jared Jones and Tommy White each hit a grand slam to set an SEC Tournament record in LSU’s win

Jared Jones and Tommy White made history in LSU’s victory at the SEC Tournament. Each player hit a grand slam, setting a new tournament record. The defending national champions dominated Kentucky with an impressive 11-0 win in just eight innings.

This remarkable achievement marked the first time in 607 SEC Tournament games that a team hit multiple grand slams in the same game. In the seventh inning, Jones delivered his first hit of the tournament, a powerful home run that also served as LSU’s first grand slam in the SEC Tournament since Blake Dean’s in 2008. With this homer, Jones increased his season total to 23.

Not to be outdone, White joined the grand slam party in the eighth inning with his 24th home run of the season. This blast gave LSU an incredible 11-run lead. Adding to the offensive display, Michael Braswell III and Hayden Travinski also hit homers for LSU.

The pitching staff also played a crucial role in this victory. Luke Holman, the starting pitcher, struck out seven batters in six innings, while Gavin Guidry contributed three strikeouts in two innings.

This win marked LSU’s 13th run-rule game in tournament history and their seventh shutout with a double-digit margin. It was an impressive display of power and dominance from the defending champions.
After securing a 38-20 record, the No. 11 seed LSU advances to the winner’s bracket, with their next game scheduled for Thursday. On the other hand, the third-seeded Kentucky team (39-13) will face an elimination game on the same day.

Impressively, LSU has managed to score a total of 20 runs in their last two games, all while limiting their opponents to just seven hits and a single run.
