This morning, a significant service outage affected TSB customers, preventing them from accessing mobile or online banking. The issues started around 6.30am, with the majority of users experiencing difficulties logging into the app. The outage affected various regions in England and Scotland, including London, the North West, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
TSB has acknowledged the problem on its website, expressing apologies for any inconvenience caused and assuring customers that they are actively working to resolve the issue. Frustrated customers turned to social media to express their dissatisfaction, resulting in over 2,700 reports by 8am.
One user, Kaz, shared their frustration on X, stating, “Come on @TSB! I need the app today – you close all the branches down and still can’t allow us to use the app! What are you expecting people to do exactly?”
In 2024 and 2025, the bank plans to close an additional 36 branches, following the closure of 80 branches in 2020, 164 in 2021, and 70 in 2022.
A customer expressed frustration on X, stating, “Sort yourselves out @TSB. Your App was down before I went to bed, it’s still down this morning.”
TSB responded to customers on the platform, acknowledging the issues with their digital services and apologizing for any inconvenience caused. However, after 8am, reports of issues began to decrease rapidly, indicating that the outage was almost resolved within an hour.
A later update on TSB’s website confirmed that some customers had trouble logging into the app and online banking in the morning, but the issue has since been resolved. The bank apologized for any inconvenience caused.
The TSB outage marks the second significant problem faced by banks this week. Earlier, on Tuesday, NatWest experienced a disruption in its mobile and online banking services.
